Desktop Profit Calculating Widget/App?

Does anyone know of a really simple widget that does what EXCEL and other packages do, i.e.,

PRICE less DISCOUNT plus VAT - SELLING PRICE = £PROFIT

....that can sit on and be easily accessible from my PC front page?

I can find stuff for tracking shares and ****** but looking for something much simpler....

Create a spreadsheet and input your own formulae in. It's not particularly difficult.

Column A Cost Price
Column B Discount as %
Column C Selling Price
Column D Profit: = (A * (1-B) + (C*1.2)) - A

Not 100% sure what you're asking for, but one thing that always bugged me was doing financial forecasts. I could never find a decent tool for doing them that worked the way I wanted (i dont want it to connect to my account and guess the finances for the next year...) so i wrote my own.

Feel free to try it and see if thats what you mean. Note that it saves to an xml file which you can then re-import to work on rather than saving to the cloud. Might fix that one day

I have that for existing products with hard and fast percentages etc., but was hoping for something simple that I can access with one click on the desktop, rather like a currency converter.

Take today for example.... talking to a new supplier over the phone, juggling with a printed trade price list and a calculator, the discount offered, vat (not registered so we swallow that) to end up with a cost price that enabled me to gauge whether the price we'd need to sell at would be acceptable to our customers.

x 10 products later I could barely read my own handwriting?

Your formula is incorrect (and in my reply, I didn't check it thoroughly).

The formula should be:

(SELL PRICE/(1+VAT RATE)) - (COST PRICE - DISCOUNT)

I have a spreadsheet that allows me to modify discount rates, markups, VAT rates and currency exchange rates and so on. It doesn't require anything fancy, just some very basic maths and the knowledge that $A$2, for example, refers to an absolute cell (A2) and will not be modified when you copy the formula.

For the record I would class myself as mathematically dyslexic, my financial acumen coming from the teachings of the MD of a very successful business who taught me the art of 'fag packet' calculations.
