I am considering delivering a half-day workshop seminar around the topic of 'online marketing - getting your website to the top of google' or 'online marketing - how to use technology to get more customers' in Reading in the last week of June.

I would love to hear whether you feel such an event would be a good idea, whether it would attract a lot of interest, as well as what type of content/topics you think it should contain.

The general idea is to provide businesses with a holistic overview of what they can do to increase their visibility online as well as addressing specific questions and challenges they face with their own website. This would cover the entire lifecycle of digital marketing, from competition analysis and seo research to social media and other marketing opportunities.

To start, I am considering to charge delegate places at the cost of £99 which I feel is good value for money but would also like to know your thoughts on this too.

I look forward to your constructive criticism.

    There is an appetite for all sorts of marketing and PR training for the business community.

    Whether people will be interested in what you have to offer will depend on;

    • whether you are offering training with tangible benefits for the customer
    • your credibility - what background, expertise, reputation you have to deliver the training
    • what else is available
    • whether you are delivering the training in a format, in a location and at a time that your potential customers want
    • how well you market your courses

    if you go ahead, please don't refer to an online marketing course which will help customers get to the top of google as you will lose any credibility

    Thank you for your comments.

    I agree but what was your initial reaction to the concept?

    The level of the seminar will very much depend on the knowledge-level of the audience too. But the idea, like you also mentioned, is to shed light on how to achieve tangible results in search results and online visibility.

    With regard to credentials, I've been doing SEO since 1996 before it was even called SEO, and my work portfolio includes a lot of well known brands (Intel, Accor hotels, etc) as well as different sectors (recruitment, hospitality, and more). Plus I am a guest-lecturer at two universities on the topic of digital marketing and am qualified both in technology as well as marketing and management. So skills-wise I want to believe that I know what I am talking about.
