I have now discovered an Extension for Google Chrome, called Edit This Cookie (http://www.editthiscookie.com/) which seems to allow you to edit the expiration date on the rap30day cookie, which controls how often the Rapport reminder pops up.

To get the rap30day cookie you need to choose the last option from the box where you choose not to download and install Rapport.

Then install Edit This Cookie, go back to the HSBC tab within Chrome and edit the rap30day cookie expiration date. Full instructions are included with Edit This Cookie.

I won't know if this works for about a month, of course :)

So..I downloaded Rapport as it was driving me nuts being quizzed as to why I didn't want it every-time I wanted to access my on-line business banking. Cut a long story short it was a pain, slowed things down and prevented me from using the snipping tool to take screen copies. So, deleted and will now have to put up with the annoying pop ups once again. The really funny thing about this is that I was recently in the HSBC Northampton branch sorting out some business banking stuff - when the adviser went to log into on-line banking she got the pop up and remonstrated quite some frustration at being asked whether she would like to download Rapport...it's even winding HSBC staff up!! Come on HSBC get a grip!! ::eek:

There is no doubt in my mind that Rapport is resource hungry, which is not a problem if that only happened when I was accessing my bank (Co-op bank) but to have it slow everything I do online is wrong. It is clearly a solution that does not work as it should and also an indication that the banks dont listen to their customers opinions. They know Rapport is not a good solution for the end user but wont change their ways

We recently added a "Rapport Blocking" feature to our Chrome Extension, anyone on Chrome can use this extension to block these annoying popups. You don't need to use any of the other features in the extension. It's primary purpose is to facilitate our users in streaming their bank data from some of the major banks directly into our accounting platform.

If we have time we'll wrap up this blocking script (which is just a few lines of code) into a dedicated Rapport Blocking extension. I appreciate some will have reservations installing browser extensions that interact with their entire online banking app, so we will release a single extension with very limited permissions to work on that specific page and kill the popup.
