A short while ago I needed to do quite a lot of driving at dawn/dusk/night. I haven't done much of that for a while and I was appalled to find that i was blinded by most cars coming towards me on rural roads. Not just inconvenienced as I remember happening occasionally in the past when someone forgot to dip their main beams, but actually unable to see the side of the road or anything else for seconds at a time. Very unsettling.

I understand this is an issue the authorities are aware of and are considering what to do. Eventually. I sropped driving on rural roads at night - the glare was not so obvious on a duel carriageway.

However, facebook came up with an advert for anti-glare glasses. The website is full of testimonials and explanations about how the glasses work. What it lacks is any detail about the company wanting to part me from my hard earned money. The 'company name' is their website address. Their address is a rent a desk site. So I asked them to confirm their proper name. I got this

"Thank you for your interest in our product! We understand the importance of knowing who you're purchasing from. Our store, XXX website XXX, specializes in high-quality anti-glare glasses designed to enhance night driving visibility and reduce eye strain.

If you have any questions or need further details, feel free to ask—we’re happy to help!

    Best regards,
    Care Team"
I have replaced their 'name' - the website address with XXX

I responded stating they are clearly scammers as they will not identify themselves. I got this:

"Thank you for reaching out. I completely understand the importance of knowing who you are purchasing from, and I want to assure you that we are a legitimate business committed to providing high-quality products and excellent customer service.

All the information about our company, including our products, shipping policies, return process, and customer support, is available on our official website: XXX. We are transparent about our operations, and our website provides detailed information to help you make an informed purchase.

If you have any specific concerns or need further clarification, please don’t hesitate to ask. We’re happy to assist you in any way we can.

    Best regards,
    Care Team"

I won't be buying anything from them, but I wondered if I am being overcautious. They claim to be a company and to have a registered trademark, but will not give me their company name.

No I don't think you are being over cautious I don't need to tell you a simple goole search will bring up plenty of options but try Amazon first I was looking at them on there the other day

As far as the authorities go I think they have completely missed the boat on this one the car manufacturers have been using these "brighter" headlights for years now

Did you check the "official website"?

If they are selling through it then they must give a full geographic address.
There is a full geographic address. It is a rent an office/desk for a week place.

I guess scam is possible over-egging it, but like you I'd never buy online from a business that doesn't clearly/openly display legally required information

They're probably just naive - like those that come on here looking for ways to keep their identity secret - but it's a safe bet that they won't be responsive to post-sale issues.

They offer a 'no quibble' money back deal, but without proper details I cannot trust it.

'Must' is sadly not the case with an awful lot of sales websites which lack proper details of company, premises and registration.

I side with @Newchodge here - Unless a site has a bona fide address and preferably telephone contact and isn't registered with 999 other companies at a cheap accommodation address I won't deal with them. On the one occasion I did get my fingers a little warm a credit card chargeback sorted the issue.

I learnt a lot from this
@Newchodge is scared of the dark but still wants to look cool at night by wearing sun glasses 😎😎☀️👓👓😂👍

If you'd like to PM me the website I can see if it's anything or anyone I'm aware of (I'm in car accessories and we did do these glasses for a client last year).
    Thanks, have sent it.
