Can anyone recommend any good CV writing services who are not too expensive but give a great personal service? I need to make a list of suppliers so I can refer clients on to get their CV produced.

Thanks

I can recommend two, one is a company called Hampstead Secretarial in Hampstead London NW3 they charge between £25 to £30 per hour for CV service 020 7435 8879 and the second is a private person (works from home, don't want to give out there contact number) but if you PM me the type of clients, I can have a chat with them, they are based in Chesthunt Herefordshire.

Where are you based?

Thanks for the replies. I have had a lot of PM's from people touting their services which is fine but I just want to clarify the situation. I am helping to set up a community project which will help people get back to work. Part of this is to ensure the individual has a decent CV based on their own work experience and not just a CV which has been batch processed. This is why I have placed an emphasis on "personal" service. Also, I am building a supplier list at the moment but it could be months before funding is in place so the project can commence.

I was made redundant a few weeks ago and I took the opportunity of going to some one day seminars provided by the local business unit in the college but it was paid for by Test Borough Council.

The person doing the seminars has interviewed thousands and read probably more CVs. One of the seminars he gave was CV writing skills.

I won't give the details but he was very good and he looked at the CV for free.

Since you mention people who are unemployed or are redundant I suggest you find out from your local council.

My company offers CV writing as one of our services. I personally worked in Human Resources and Recruitment for many years and have lots of experience in this field in particular.

As part of our CV writing package a 30 minute consultation with the client is included.

Feel free to contact me directly for our prices.

In a former life I worked as a Careers Advisor - anyone who has below a NVQ2 qualification (or the equivalent) can get a CV done free either at the Jobcentre or at one of the many Gov funded schemes - they are mostly run by the Learning & Skills Council. You don't have to be unemployed to get it, either. I used to churn out anything up to 20 CV's a week....

Hi Dataferret

I am a CV consultant and have my own company, Shine CV (shinecv.co.uk).

I pride myself on my professional, friendly and personalised service which is tailored to the individual needs of each client. I worked for several years in executive recruitment in both the UK and the Asia Pacific region. I am also an experienced copywriter.

A thorough hour-long consultation before any writing begins is an essential part of our process. Each CV is individually written.

Shine CV also writes cover letters and offers interview coaching. If I can provide any help or advice to your community project, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Kind regards
Karen Toms

Hi,

I can vouch for Karen Toms of Shine CV's, they also have a sister company called Tyrrell Marketing (tyrrellmarketing.co.uk). We used them when we launched for our marketing. We found them very proffesional in thier approrach and understood our requirements.

I have also pointed a friend in her direction for his CV as he was made redundant at the start of the year and he had not completed a CV for years. He is now back in work and he puts a lot of that down to Karen and her teams advice and help.

Just thought I would share my exeperience.

I have used two CV Writing services, the first one was terrible, my CV came back with so many mistakes, and was worse than the one I did my self. Then I visited CV-shop’s website and they were really helpful. They have some free resources which are quite good. But their CV writing services are the best I have come across, and they aren’t very expensive either. Hope that helps.
