I need a little help from anyone who has experience of using Cubecart 4.4.4

I'm entering a product into the system.

When I try and bring up the filemanager to browse the uploaded images.

I get the following error message:

"The server didn't reply with a proper XML data. Please check your configuration"

Cubecart uses fckeditor as the file manager.

It worked fine yesterday, now it doesn't work.

My Browser is Google Chrome 9.0.597.98

I have tried re-uploading the editor directory and clearing my temporary internet files to no avail.

Contact your host... they may have initiated a restriction.

The image upload facility within FCK is known to be highly vulnerable and I can understand why your host will want to block this function.

You should use FTP to transport such files... While the FCK function is "easier", you are basically saying to hackers... "Hey... come in" The door's wide open on my site!"

I can't help you with that I'm afraid... but it seems a rather odd way of assigning an asset to the product's database record.

Other cart systems (zencart, pretashop, CRE, OsC, magento) have far simpler ways of doing this...

If I determine an answer, I'll get back to you...

My images aren't too large, they've all imported fine I can view them. I don't think the XML error has anything to do with the size of the pictures. I've already checked on there, no replies or the solutions don't work.

BTW I've used previous versions of cubecart and the file manager has worked fine.

While fixing this issue for a customer, I thought I would share my findings. This issue may be caused by apache's modsecurity module. The ASL ruleset particularly will block the vulnerable FCK File Manager plugin from working, based on rule 388000 - if this rule is disabled for the virtual host concerned it will fix the issue - this is something only your hosting provider can do for you.
Krystal Hosting will do this for you :)
