Cost effective printer

I print a lot of A4 pictures of my completed projects, my current Lexmark printer will only print 10 pics on a cartridge. Is this about the norm or can somebody recommend a cost effective printer as I find this one quite expensive.

Thanks for any recommendations

Hi

For Photo's i always recommend using a Epson inkjet.

The compatible cartridges for Epsons are very very cheap and good quality too. A cost effective way to print high quality pictures.

Thanks

Brendan

You have to be very careful with cheap epson compatibles they can screw the printer up or not be recogniseed.

Why use compatibles when the kodak 'one size fits all' printers and inks are so good and so inexpensive?

I both sell inkjet and laser printers and also print them out at home, even when i take into consideration that i buy the ink carts cheaper than anyone can get them it still works out cheaper when printing them out to take them to ASDA or TESCO.

I know its not as practical as doing them at home but if its a cost issue then I'd suggest this everytime.

Also its worth asking; have you tried several cartridge changes to arrive at the quantity of 10 prints? the reason i ask is that many people make the mistake with a new printer of thinking the cartridges you get with the printer run out quick. ALL the printer manufacturers give you whats known as a starter cartridge; to get you up and running. This usually has between 5 and 10% of the normal ink capacity you would get with the cartridge for that printer. Obviously you then go out and start spending on their consumables.

Over the years i have had many customers on the phone saying that the new ink that they have paid for with their printer has run out early - i have to remind them that they haven't paid for any ink, the manufacturer has simply provided them with a starter cartridge to get them up and running.

Hope this helps

There are some really rubbish ones about, but there are some superb compatibles about.

I have a pc shop and we sell inks for epsons and we never get any of the compatibles back, because we buy good quality ones.
