Conversion rates

We have recently put an open course up on our website, that allows people to book online:

However, the conversion rate we are getting it around 1%. The majority of visitors are coming in off keyword searches such as 'Time Management Course', so they are very much relevant to their search requirements.

Having a look at that page, what else could I do to try and improve the conversion rate. I have tried to reduce the barriers to signing up as much as possible.

If you think that most people are probably landing directly on your page then personally there's not enough on that single page to convince me to part with £99. I dont know your site/brand and the product details seem pretty generic.

Things that might change my mind...

Testimonials of how good your courses are in general
Actual examples of your course material or video footage
Why I should buy from your brand

I know you're probably doing this elsewhere on your site but you need to remember these guys arent coming through your front door, they're coming straight to this page and missing all the reassuring stuff on the way through.

I agree that 1% isn't a bad conversion rate for a service priced at £99 and also quite niche.

I look at many sites similar to this every day and I believe that it’s a bit too quick to be asking for payment, especially if you have arrived to that inner page via natural search or page search.

There are pro’s and con’s about sending traffic directly to the page related to the search term. The pro is that its highly relevant, exactly what the user is looking for and less likely to bounce or to get lost in navigation. The con’s its that they know very little about your company and what else you offer. It’s like meeting a random person off the street trying to see you a phone. You’d question their reliability and trust.

Try using the Google Website Optimiser to do some A/B split testing of the landing page. One as is, and a second with more content, maybe a quick enquiry form included

1% isn't a bad conversion rate, but what I would say is that you have no strong call to action. I know you have your payment links at the bottom but they don't encourage me to sign up now.

I would put a large banner at the top of the page stating what the benefit of your course is. Maybe something like "Get more out of your day, manage your workload effectively".

Put in a section called benefits and highlight your bullet points more. Then on the right hand side replace the picture of the watch with a nice call to action.
