Hi all, thank you for your time. I am trying to start a company built around a mobile app. I require some help securing protection of my IP from the developer and somehow also securing an agreed revenue stream for them. I'm also looking to licence the app for other companies to brand and use which I guess I then also need help with a merchandising agreement but I'm not sure.

Thank you for any help as I'm very lost.

Regards

Hi - sounds like you need some contracts drawn up between you and the developer..There are lots of templates you can download and use out there but if you would like a lawyer to draw something up for you or sit down with you and tell you what contracts you need the site I work for can get you some quotes. (http://www.lawspark.org.uk/) If you are trying to save ££ a template may be better.. although with this there is always the risk that it is not as effective as it needs to be.

Good luck with the app!

Hi Insigniata,

It's very sensible to get these sorts of contracts in place at an early stage to protect you in the long run.

For the IP, it looks like you need a lawyer to draft an IP assignment document, which we could definitely help you with.

We could also certainly get you some quotes for licensing your app.

Just as a bit of background, I'm an ex-lawyer myself and set up Lexoo.co.uk to help businesses find the best lawyer for them. I pre-screen every lawyer on the platform and we only select specialists for each job before asking them to quote. On average we receive 3-4 quotes for each piece of work, which hopefully gives the business a good amount of options.

If you're still looking for assistance with the matter, we'd love to help!

Feel free to get in touch,
Daniel,
