Connecting to Oracle using SQL Server Management Studio

Hi all,

I'm hoping sombody can point me in the right direction with this one. I'm hoping to use SQL Server Management Studio (which I've had basic training in and like to use to query my SQL databases) against an Oracle system. We've been handed a small Oracle system to look after but I would really like to use the same interface for all the systems.

Basically I'm asking if I can just connect read only to an Oracle datasource to run basic selects in just the same way I can a SQL dataset from mangement studio? if so, how?

yep you need to create a linked server and you need to map one of the existing mssql logins to the oracle login (in security) and then you can simply issue a query like;

select * from openquery(<linked server name>, "select * from <table in oracle schema>")
