Competitions

I am running a competition at the moment to promote the launch of our new 2008 range of medical ID jewellery. The prize is an i-Pod Shuffle.

I wondered if anyone knew where I could promote it? I've already posted on a couple of sites including Prize Finder, MSE and Equinox. Is there anywhere else I can use to promote it?

I've also posted it on our blog, on our facebook group and I am going to send an email newsletter this morning to our newsletter subscribers.

Any other ideas?

Many thanks.

When you say medical jewelley am i to believe you are refering to identity jewellery like necklaces and bracelets that inform people that the wearer is for example a diabetic? Also do you have an advertising budget for this competition?

(sorry for being so ignorant!)

Yes that is exactly what I mean, sorry it wasn't clearer.

I don't really have an advertising budget for the competition no.

OK no problem! - no need to apologise, at this time of night my mind is often mush anyway ) it might be a good idea to approach a chemist chain, preferably one with a pharmacy like lloyds or boots. Call head office and speak to their buyer or marketing team. Tell them that if they allow you to place some literature (all you need is a black and white A4 poster which can be printed at home) in a few of their stores that you will leave a couple of items with them exclusively - buyers always like the word 'exclusive' and these type of chemists are always promoting free diabetes tests etc so it would be a good promotion for them especially if you are offering a free ipod. All stores like this want to do is increase their footfall and if you are helping to do this they'll like you. If you are looking for something professional to provide them by way of literature or posters. Let me know and i might be able to provide you with one of my 'training' models FOC. I usually have a photographer come test with these models every fortnight. I may even be able to call in a favour and get a couple of shots for you to use as posters ( obviously i can't guarantee this until i've spoken with the photographer - but hes a great bloke so he may help out!)- all in the name of medicine of course.

Let me know if i can be of assistance.

I really like your jewellery too - i may even be interested in one or two pieces for my neice (13) who is a chronic diabetic but wont wear anything that mentions her diabetes unless its 'trendy'. Its so difficult to find anything so dainty but informative and you've done it - well done you.

Hi Lajlaj,
One good way of advertising your competition would be by posting the information and link to the UK.Rec.Competitions newsgroup, which will give you a UK wide audience. There is also a very popular UK website called Loquax which deals with competitions, and may help you get a few buyers.

Mick

P.S. PM if you need help accessing newsgroups (NNTP)
