Company name

Hi All,

Some advice would be appreciated.
What should you do if when registering your ltd company the name is not available, i.e the domain name is available but the company name is not, due to being a similar name already taken.

Can you brand/market and trade as one name with your company name being very similar, i.e with UK at the end?

Surely there must be some legislation here?

I would think you would only have issues if your name and domain name directly tried to copy off someone else.

Are you both in the same industry?

If your called Bob Ltd and Bob.co.uk is free, then I see no issues. If your called jeff Ltd but you get a site called Bob.co.uk and your competitor is called Bob Ltd, then you may have issues.

I am a newbie however so read up on it. Also look at who started out first etc..
