My father has a hobby/business converting vans into mobile homes. He has a website that is "convertavan.co.uk", but this is not the name of the company. He has recently received a letter from a company who are called "convertavan" (registered in Feb 07) asking him to remove these words from the heading on his home page as they are the main heading and they are not happy as its their registered company name. They have suggested they will have to take legal advise/action if not changed. I don't think Dad has done anything wrong, and he does own the web domain name and I think they are just annoyed he had beaten them to the domain nname.

Any comments? Is Dad ok to leave as is? I'm going to post in IT too.

They haven't trade marked the name so he's quite entitled to use it. Registering a company name gives them no protection.

You might suggest he registers it himself.
