I have a few things that I sell on commission. I was told not to put them through the till, but I sometimes forget and then forget not to put other purchases through, they buy commission and non commission together or they pay by card. If you sell commission and non commission items how do you manage it?

Thanks

Thank you for your replies.

I will find out tomorrow why she said that, I couldn't understand it and it would make life a lot easier. Where do you put the money paid out to the crafter. Do you do a paid out on the till or keep a separate book, where maybe they sign for it or doesn't it matter.

They don't get receipt. If they want one, gets written in a receipt book. They didn't have one on the market, also the till we inherited from the previous business only had 2 spare rolls which we are now using. As it doesn't work properly, was reluctant to get anymore. Was saving the receipt one for the Z reading which occasionally it refuses to do and can take 3 or 4 goes to persuade it to do Z instead of X.
Hopefully we will be able to get a new one very soon once I get this electric problem sorted, but getting a different one so it will have more departments on it, the five we have on this one are all used.

Our till has 70 item numbers on it; each of our crafters' has their own number so when their goods are presented at the till, we ring up their item on their respective number (eg £10 on number 39). At the end of each day, I do my .PLU reading which gives me a breakdown of what money is allocated to which number, it's all entered on to a spreadsheet which has been set up to make the deductions we require in terms of rental and commission payable by each crafter and gives a total due to the crafter for the entire month - we have 61 of them.
This is then printed off and when people collect the money due to them, they sign for it on the spreadsheet. It works well for us.
