Closing LTD company - director ID?

So the missus and I have been floating the idea of emigrating since Covid. With our youngest having just left for university and now having found his feet, we’re finally beginning to make the preparations.

I know you now have to verify your ID with companies house when you file your next confirmation statement.

I have an old ltd that I started when I did consulting on the side. It’s been dormant for a year maybe two off the top of my head.

Obviously if I’m emigrating there’s no point having said company. If I were to shut the company down today (next confirmation statement isn’t due until august I think) would I still have to verify my identity? Not opposed to it just curious especially if it’s a fairly long ordeal I don’t want it still hanging over my head while we’re doing all the moving and whatever.

Yes you do. If you don’t verify your dissolution may be blocked of delayed.
