Hi all

I have a company that was trading but in last 24 months it was pretty much dormant. Only bank charges were going out. Nothing in.

I have a notice from companies house to close the company if i dont file the annual return.
This is overdue.

1, Can i let companies house close the company down, As i know they will do this if i dont file the confirmation statement. Or is this bad? I have heard this can be an option?

2, If i close the company myself, do i need to pay companies house late filing fee for the accounts which is also payable, and the HMRC late payment fee for corporation tax return? I havent done both. Problems with accountant.

3, do these fines go away when the LTD company is closed, or will they come after me personally?

Thanks.

Yes this is the simplest option.

Companies House will waive any penalties if you apply for strike off. You must send HMRC a copy of the strike off application and they will object if the company owes any tax. If the numbers are small they will take no further action and strike off will eventually gp ahead.

These fines are normally raised against the company. They die when the company is struck off.
