Hello

I have a client who says they cannot afford to pay me at the moment for a logo design I completed to their satisfaction.

The work was completed a month ago and payment was due on completion (£250) and client said it would be 2 weeks until they could pay which I said yes that is fine.
Yet a month later with many reminders they are still saying they cannot pay!

What are my options do you think?

Send them a final demand letter giving them 2 weeks to make payment in full. If they still don't pay then refer the debt to a debt recovery agency like TAK who should be able to collect the full invoice value for you (they will charge your debtor a late payment fee and interest charge). We'll chase the debt in a tactful manner to retain your customer relationship if possible.

Give me a call if you'd like to discuss, or see the 'useful tools' section of our website. We'll be putting some suggested Final Demand letter examples on there later this month. In the meantime if you do a google search for payontime you'll find a website which has Final Demand and pre-legal letters for free.

Hope that helps.

Dont you send previews with your logo ontop as a 50% transparency until payment?

Hi

I never said I had supplied the completed artwork to client (not that stupid!)!.... only that the artwork design was completed. They have had low res versions of the logo for electonic viewing only.

The client was given a written quote, which on acceptance was supplied with a Order Confirmation and T&C;s

The design is not in dispute - merely the clients ability to pay the balance (less 30% deposit).

I have asked the client if they can split the payments into 3 - though it is completely beyond me why people commit themselves to a job when they cannot pay on completion - it is not something I would!

TAK/Peter - thanks for the offer - let me see how they respond to the split payments - if no action then I have nothing to lose by using your services!

Many thanks
Joanne
