There seems to be confusion about the HS codes required for the CN22 customs forms, which codes should be used, the 6, 8 or 10 digit codes.

I am using the codes generated from here tariffs on the Gov website

Some users are claiming these codes are not acceptable for some countries?

Are these codes also suitable for EU countries and Non EU destinations too?

Please answer the questions below.

1. Do we use 6, 8 or 10 digit codes?

2. Are the codes generated by tariffs on the Gov website acceptable for EU and Non EU countries.

Thanks for the reply, i will use the 8 digit codes provide by the gov website. I already ship a lot internationally so I am aware of forms etc, I was just thrown by the codes. RM were a bit vague about what I needed to do and there was a lot of conflicting advice flying about. I have read up the advice on the RM website just some traders were saying it is incorrect. I will use those 8 digit ones for now and hopefully they will suffice.

I always use 8 digits. Never had a problem.

You don't need a CN22, nor code, within the EU.

I suggest you read up more on exporting by post.

I have been looking at the codes on the webpage, it's going to be a nightmare for me as I am a vintage seller and find the right code for these individual items is going to take ages, any advice?
