I could not get the online PIN to work, so opted for the postal option.

Finally they have made it simple without having to go through third party nob heads.

Although it asks you which "state" and "zip" code. You would think they would not ask UK people that.

Just put in your postcode instead of "Zip" and it works , however I also couldn't get the PIN to work i.e. they were unable to call me. Have sent them a ticket to see what the story is plus have asked for a mail pin.

I have just registered and requested my mail verification pin, seemed fairly simple to do. Annoying about the zipcode but did not seem to matter. Has anyone else actually got a pin in the snail mail yet?

Got a reply from Bing re my query as to why phone pin not working. They say I should be using IE to do the verification but tried it and it made no difference whatsoever.

So still waiting on mail pin.

I added all my data over 2 weeks ago, never got a message saying it was 'US only' at the time, but then again I still haven't recieved my pin either.

I understand that you're unable to claim your listing. I know how this may concern you.

Bing Business Portal is currently available only in the United States. For listings in the United Kingdom, you can refer to our Data Provider www . marketlocation . com for further assistance.

I emailed Bing Tech Services and got the reply below:

Ahhhhh, good ol' Bing, still years behind Google!!

So we await and see what they do to the early UK adopters.

Will their customers services department be savvy or will they just ignore us? I've still not had any confirmation, so am assuming it will be binned as the above.

I did manage to update some of the info in our Bing business listing (corrected the address and added the web address). They seem to have some kind of info service provided by 118.

URL to update your details: http : / / bing.my118information . co . uk / (<DAGNAMIT, Still can't post URL's!!)

You have to create an account, update the details then 118 call you to confirm the changes......

BUT, if your a local services business or shop I'd imagine 118 will try and get you to part with money for advertising etc.

Took about a week for the changes to appear on Bing.

Still not a 'claimed' listing though and seems like a pain in the a*se way to go about it but I'd imagine 118 pay Bing a fair bit 'o dosh to be the company providing this info?

I assume the 118 thing is as in "118 118" and ain't going to get involved with them again !

You never know Bing might wake up to there being people and businesses outside the US !

This topic should be removed, this service is still not available to businesses in the UK - you still have to go via a third party for the moment (http://www.marketlocation.com/) so I wouldn't bother wasting your time in the portal although you can successfully be listed with Bing if you choose to do so via their 3rd parties.

Since then, I'm getting near daily calls from a company who 'claim' they supply a magazine to emergency services and harassing me to advertise with them / claiming I have agreed to.

Of course, that is not the fault of the third party agency, but I'm starting to lose my temper with these advertising idiots. Its not professional to be rude to people on the phone, but I am being pushed to my limit here.

Thats why they arent worth bothering with not worth the greif. These types of advertising calls you get are nothing more than chancers who want to take a bit of money off you. They arent interested in you getting a return on investment. I just tell them to **** off. I dont mind swearing at some one trying to rob me no matter how polite they are.

It really is very hard to remain pleasant ... I even hung up on one guy and he just phoned me back again ... I know some of them are genuinely trying to make a living but I also know I will eventually end up telling one of them to *%"*# OFFFFFF !
