Hi, so this is basically our first Christmas selling online, and just wanted to know is it normal for sale to die down as it gets closer to christmas?

For example 2 days ago we were selling an average of 80-90 items per day for the past month or so and before that we selling on average 40-50 items per day. but since yesterday sales have completely dried up, yesterday we sold 13 items and today is looking the same.

Is it normal for this to happen?

I guess people now are thinking that it may not get delivered, as scalloway says, or holding onto their money until the sales kick in after xmas day (people like me)

Most people have all of their shopping done well before the last delivery slots in time for xmas so it's only natural that things will die off.

This is absolutely typical. We take it one step further really and from around midweek stop guaranteeing Christmas delivery unless they pay for special, but we've advertised this all month long so most of our customers would have ordered already by now anyway.

Christmas Day is a great day for sales for us the last 2 years, guess people spend their cash they got as gifts.

The closer it gets to Christmas the less likely it is that your order will be delivered in time so early December shopping pays. From this website

Interesting article but I'm not sure where they are getting their figures from "Figures from IMRG and Experian show that UK shoppers spent £810m on Black Friday in 181m visits, and £720m on Cyber Monday, with 160.8m visits." £810m in 181m visits, that means people spent an average of £4.4m per visit! And the population of the UK is approx 64m, so that means that each person in the UK spent on average £12.6m on black Friday and £11.25m on cyber Monday... Not sure which alternative reality this is happening in!

Nope your maths there is way off it would equate to £4.40 per visit on Black Friday and £4.48 per visit on Cyber Monday and if you want to then apportion those figures across the UK it would be £12.66 per person on Black Friday and £11.25 on Cyber Monday. I imagine the figures published are accurate.
