Christmas Close-down.. how long ?

How soon to Christmas do you keep your office open ? do you or your boss go all Ebenezer Scrooge and make everyone work until the last-knockings on xmas eve, and then be back on boxing day all the earlier ? or do you give them a few days or a week off on the run up to Christmas..? i know with some company's you have to stay running, but a lot don't, and 9 times out of 10 the people you do business with are off for the holidays anyway..

Sorry to bring up Christmas already.. But someone had too! :)

People get Christmas off?!

No wonder Britain is falling behind

:D:p:D

Seriously though, in past years we have had telephonists in between Christmas and New Year, but the number of calls we take on those days average two or three a day, rather than the 150 we normally take.

We will be working till December the 15th. It is very likely to start working after New Years Eve - around 3rd, 4th of Jan .. it depends.

I guess nobody enjoys working that period, especially that Xmas spirit is all around you. :)

We close on 22nd this year till the first working day in the new year; we have one supplier who closes on 15th Dec until 15th Jan EVERY year! Because we supply bespoke goods our last bespoke orders to be guaranteed delivery for Christmas is 15th - stock orders can go out up to 21st and still get there for 24th, so it works for us!

We shut down the office on the last working day before Christmas (unofficial half/one third day) and re open fully the first working day after New Year. Typically someone (usually me) will divert the main office line but we get about one call a day during the break!

Core staff are still expected keep an eye on their email I case anything important crops up etc.

Our support team are still on call and responding to problems 24/7 regardless of the season though!
