Hello
Could someone help me here.
We are dealing with the chinese and we are not sure how the work.
Could someone please confirm what FOB Price means?
Please let me know
Thanks
Austin Wood
FOB... means Free on Board
You have to pay all costs of shipping.. i.e
The cost of the freight
Insurance
This gives you the CIF price.
You pay duty on the CIF value
you pay VAT on the CIF plus duty value
These are the basics

To be more accurate....
FOB generally means the cost of getting it to the port and on to the ship. It doesn't include shipping.
Say you were shipping something from Beijing to Manchester.
Ex-works is no shipping - it generally includes putting the goods onto the back of the truck, but not necessarily.
FOB is as far as the Chinese port.
C&F or CIF is as far as the UK port, with or without insurance.
