Checking a job applicant's right to work documents for Self Employed

If you take on a Self Employed Contractor to do work for you, do you need to do this:
www . gov. uk / check-job-applicant-right-to-work

It is unclear as it seems to indicate you have to perform these checks when employing them, but makes no mention if they are on a Self Employed Contract if this still needs to be done.

Does anyone have any clarification?
