Hi

How do you find out who owns a domain name? I used to have a domain name before and it expired but I would now like to rebuy the domain.

When I enter the domain name it just shows some sort of holding page with advert links on it? How do i go about getting the domain name as nobody seems to be using it.

I have just tried that and it does not seem to work, I am getting

Error -102 pispGetWhoisDetails Invalid or no mapping exists.

Its a .co.uk domain and if I enter the domainname.co in the WHOIS lookup box and select .uk I get the above error?

What am I doing wrong?

domaintools dot com
will allow you to watch the site and alert you when it is up for renewal.

NOTHING TO DO WITH WHOIS. Nominet is the reigstrar for .co.uk domains.

BTW. If you use Firefox there is a great little addon which sits in your system tray and links to Alexa which in turn gives a wealth of info about a TLD including registrant - keywords used on the site - traffic etc.

Really useful and of course it's free.
