Cheapest and Best Cloud Server

Hi, anyone know what is the best and cheapest cloud servers? I am using Amazons at the moment but their pricing is very hard to mark up and sell to a customer, 1&1's pricing looks ok are the any others?

Currently have a dedicated server with fast hosts, while it works ok I am paying near on £90 a month and not really using it to the max plus the websites I host are PHP / MYSQL and Windows O/s Keeps giving me hassle. I just want a Centos O/S for the websites and Windows for the VoIP and Hotspot hosting I do?

Any ideas?

Have you looked at Daily?

I've found them very good for the services I have used them for (admittedly not cloud servers). The co including support is uk based, and when needed, I've found support very good.

Thanks for that. Do you know if they have UK based server and are they resellers?

I should call them to check - yes they're an internet co you can call and talk to :) I've always found their pre-sales very good.

My belief is their datacentres are uk based (good as some customers don't want off shore data housing!). They have a re-seller program you can sign-up to, but as to which of their services they themselves are re-selling I don't know.

Break the ice and give them a call, that way you'll know for sure :)

What would be amount of resources that you need? You can check out our prepaid eNlight Cloud Solution which is Auto-Scalable so you can have resources automatically allocated as and when you need and it is pay-per-use which makes it a lot cheaper than the usual cloud server.

Here you can check the approximate cost of the cloud server depending on the resources you would need: http://www.eukhost.com/enlight/predict-your-costs.php

Best and cheap don't belong in the same sentence! I personally don't think you need a cloud server if all you're hosting is a mix of dynamic websites. Do you have any particularly traffic heavy websites?

An option would be to just stick them under a single Plus account from us (https://www.simplexwebs.com/enterprise-plus) as we take care of all the management. We *always* have customers thinking they need a dedicated environment when in fact one of our Enterprise/Plus plans are perfect.

Nudge me if you have any Q's.

Paying over £500 a month for our set-up so £90 a month is not that expensive in my opinion :)

Take a look at http://www.serverlove.co.uk/

Manchester based and a great company.

Then you'll need 2 VPS or a dedicated server which you vrtualise yourself ...

Are you looking for provider-managed or self-managed ?

Any idea on the specifics like disk, transfer, ram etc ?

what is the best and cheapest
Best and Cheapest are rarely the same thing.

If you're looking for 100% uptime requirement, you need to discuss this with your hosting provider and ensure they provide a 100% uptime SLA.

It's worth asking about the infrastructure. "Cloud" doesn't mean anything unfortunately, and I wish it was a protected term!

A cloud server could run on one physical server. If the physical server breaks, down goes your cloud server.

Or, it (should) run on a cluster of servers. If put together correctly, the cluster should protect you from any server hardware failures. However, you only have to have a look at theregister.com for some high-profile failings of these 'cloud platforms', most recently fasthosts had some problems.

Make sure you do your research and find someone you can trust. We'd be happy to help, but 'cheap' doesn't mean 'good' - prices for a 100% uptime SLA server start from £100/month because you're effectively buying resource on at least 2 of everything, so you're protected in the event of a component failure.

We do dedicated boxes from £20-£25/month:

• Xeon® Processor 3.00E GHz, 2M Cache, 800 MHz FSB
• 4GB RAM
• 80GB 7,200rpm Hard Drive
• CentOS 32bit or 64bit
• 5,000GB Bandwidth/Month
• Dedicated (Unmetered) 100Mbit Port

Give me a call or a PM if I can help, we compete heavily with Fasthosts and love to beat them on prices ;)

EDIT:
we also offer 100% uptime across our network as standard, it's one of our USPs. If you're paying £90/month atm, are you on their DS910i package? we do a comparison package at £69/month + VAT.
