We take our dogs into the local hospital. Thinking about having a VERY simple website which just gives some basic information and contact details together with a few changeable photos. What do I need?
Know quite a lot about tax and little about websites

WordPress is fairly straightforward, as are many of the site building tools out there. Most hosting companies (ourselves included) will offer a 1-click install, and assist with installing themes etc.

One tip if you do decide to host with wordpress.com - use their free option, but don't be tempted to upgrade to a paid offer. Their cheapest plan is £70 per year - you shouldn't expect to pay more than about £40/yr, including your domain name costs.

Message me if you need a hand installing themes or whatever :)

Hello Bob,

As others have said above you can use something like Wordpress which is very user friendly, you can find lots of nice looking templates around as well.

Or most web hosting providers offer some sort of web design software free with their hosting packages, these are normally quite easy to put together.

Best regards,

Matthew

Don't bother with a website (yet), no one will find it anyway.

Start with a Facebook business page. If you have a Facebook personal account the go to https://www.facebook.com/pages/create/ or if you don't, then create a Personal face book account then use that link.

Social media is a good place to get the word out about what you do.

    Now why didn't I think of that @llocally o_O
Not trying to publicise it. Just wanted somewhere with contact details and sending anyone interested to our Twitter account :)
A Facebook page will work well because it's free. We're not looking to fundraise and pay for everything ourselves.
    Thanks again :)

Also create a Google + Local page (very similar to Facebook). See http://www.google.co.uk/business/go/index.html the advantage is that Google may list it (they don't list Facebook pages). You can add links in your Google + page description to your twitter & facebook pages too.

Later on, once you have got Twitter / Facebook / Google + working (say in 6 months) then think about a website, as with a website you would need the social media anyway to create traffic. As you are funding yourself, then as others suggest, for a website just go with the free WordPress.com

Think about why you need a website, what will be its purpose and how will people find out about it. @llocally facebook page is likely a good starting point. Otherwise a simple wordpress site can get you up and running if you want a brochure type page to add to your marketing materials.
