I know its not a business question so sorry in advance, just interested to get some advise from real people rather than an salesman.
I am about to go into hospital, which i will need to stay for quite a number of weeks. What tablet would you recommend for general web viewing and watching YouTube etc.. I don't want anything flash just as long as it works. The hospital has free WiFi so I don't need it to connect to any mobile supplier. Last time i used my my mobile but found it a bit small particularly when on heavy pain killers.

Many thanks

I don't have one personally but I heard Tesco Hudl is the best of the cheap bunch. Others here are likely to have some good and cheap recommendations. I think my iPad mini would be perfect for this scenario but assuming its above the price range.

Tablet's aren't dead yet!

I agree with the Lenovo recommendation. For complete ease of use, consider the Kindle Fire range. Cheap enough and designed for content consumption. (If you have Amazon Prime you'll get access to some half-decent movies for free as well).

Tesco has recently announced that it's phasing out the Hudl. It's only available online now, not in stores, and there are no new models planned. Personally speaking, I'd avoid buying one in case support and OS updates become rarer.

Amazon offers good priced tablets. See here http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TSUGXKE...rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=2261186642&pf_rd_i=desktop as it stays "powerful tablet at an incredible price". Wish you fast recovery!

I would say that if you are after a cheap tablet that also offers quality, then the Amazon Fire range of tablets must be worth a look. Looking at current pricing, it's £49.99 for the 7" screen, up to £169.99 for the 10.1" screen. Further advantages are:

  • Prime members can stream thousands of Prime Video titles, access over 800,000 book titles, thousands of audiobooks and over a million songs
  • Prime members can download thousands of Prime Video movies and TV shows to watch offline anywhere
The Amazon Fire tablet is also ideal for use with Netflix.

You can get some real bargains on eBay but you just can't be sure on the quality. I have a back-up Android tablet for travelling and such which only cost £30 - I have had it a few years and never really had a problem with it. Be careful though as some will be rooted and won't allow the likes of Sky Go to function!
