Local DJ In 'Dreamflight' Disco Challenge
A local DJ has decided to put himself and his reputation to the test in aid of a children's charity.
Darren Jeffs of Big Mix Mobile Disco aims to raise as much money as possible for the Dreamflight charity at a special fundraising event in November. There will be a sponsored dancefloor challenge and the DJ is looking for donations from local businesses.
The takes place between 7pm-12am on Saturday 20th November 2010 at Daventry Leisure Centre. Mr Jeffs will use his skills to create a fun and memorable evening, as he explains: "I was inspired by Dreamflight's idea that everyone deserves to have fun - no matter what age or condition they're in.
"Dreamflight allows seriously ill children to take the trip of a lifetime to Disneyland in Florida and for some, it turns their lives around. They find they can become great achievers. It's all about loving life."
Mr Jeffs came up with the idea after a customer gave him some feedback at the end of one of his events: "When a client at one of my discos told me he'd never seen his relatives enjoying themselves so much on the dancefloor, I thought, great - let's put it all together!"
Businesses and local people are being called upon to sponsor special awards that will be given out on the night or by offering prizes for a grand raffle. Prizes from local businesses already include: Meals at some of the top local restaurants, a car care kit, vouchers, a massage and a free care valet or MOT test.
Local companies can also sponsor their boss to attend the event and a special 'Funky Boss.' Sponsorship of the Funky Boss will cost £100 and it includes a psychedelic certificate that can be proudly displayed on the office wall.
The event organisers have received lots of great ideas and now the doors are open for sponsors to make their mark.
Tickets for the evening of fun and fundraising cost £6 for adults and £3 for children and there will be a special appearance by Mr Mayhem who will host some of the entertaining games for all ages.
All proceeds will go to the Dreamflight charity and local businesses have been very supportive, as Mr Jeffs explains: "Local businesses have been exceedingly generous. They have donated a wide selection of prizes and the venue management have given us the function room for free."
"Dreamflight is the kind of charity that appeals to one and all, and for good reason. It's going to be an evening of lots of fun, some serious dancing, excellent publicity for sponsors and feeling really good at the end of it because it's a great cause."

Notes To Editors
The Big Mix charity disco donates all contributions to Dreamflight, a children's charity that changes young lives by taking seriously ill and disabled children on the holiday of a lifetime to Orlando, Florida.
Dreamflight has started in 1987 and the charity believes that fun and joy are just as important to children as medical equipment and research - especially children who maybe can't wait long enough for the breakthrough they need, or whose treatments and illnesses have brought disrupting pain and distress to their lives.
In 2008, eight of the returning Paralympians from Beijing, many of them medal-winning, had been Dreamflight children citing the trip as a turning point for them.
Dreamflight does something that medicine can't!
Through the Big Mix Mobile Charity Disco 2010, we hope you will join us in supporting this outstanding charity and its work to bring more fun, joy and independence into children's lives.
