Changing Ecommerce Platforms

I just wondered if someone to help me with my concern. I have recently changed my website to a magento community platform. Its fairly established with a consistent number of visits per day.

Since the changed our numbers have dropped lower every day. I re directed the 10 landing pages to the new ones..

is there anything else i need to/ should have done to try and maintain my visitor numbers?

Have you done 301 redirects from your old urls to the new ones. What is performance like. Have you changed the navigation.

There could be thousands or reasons why your site is visited less. It may simply be the way the visitors are counted is different and there is no real change.

well we had minimal sales since the changed. its been live for a week.

I have done 301 redirects to the top 10 landing pages.
Are you suggesting I 301 redirect all pages?

i mean were talking over a thousand pages. Will do it if its required, im just not sure

Have you got a 404 error page to pick up the pages that aren't being redirected?

You should alway redirect every single page of your website period.

It's like having 10 high street shops closing 9 of them and only putting your new address in the window of one of them! No body knows where to go.

It will take a long time, it's worth it though so 301 them all.

Yeah redirect all of them like for like.

Depending on how the URL's have changed then it should be possible to be done in Regex.

Another thing i noticed is that the key search terms that we had no1 positions in google for have now disappeared from they valuable positions.... even though i redirected them before the website when live!

Any idea why? will they pull back?

Again there can be thousands of reasons. Your page design will be different, and perhaps your content. Some Magento templates are poor for SEO, with incorrect header tags and title tags. It is impossible to say without reviewing your site and that is not permitted unless you Jon as a full member.

as Kulture said there might thousands of different reasons. For instance did you informed Google about your migration? It can be done via Google Webmaster tool. Here is a nice post about some major must-haves during store migration to keep your SEO safe.
