Looking into security for my new shop when I get it. I'm thinking about CCTV but wondered which way I should go about it?

Do I:

*Buy pinhole wireless cameras and link them to a TV/VCR out the back - obviously people don't know they're being watched?
*Buy Dummy cameras - so people think they're being watched?
*Buy big cameras that you can't miss - so people know they're being watched?
*Buy mirrored dome cameras - so people know the cameras are there but don't know if it's looking at them.

Also, a thought that had croassed my mind is that I would have changing rooms so what security can I have for these? Obviously, as much as I'd like to, I wont be able to put cameras in them :-(

As a CCTV installer it would depend on what your retail premises are selling and the value of stock you hold.

I would go with smoked, mirrored domes hooked up to a DVR and also have a monitor at the checkout desk that you and customers can see so they know that CCTV is in operation.

If cost is an issue you could drop the DVR and just go with camera's and a monitor but if something does happen the police will require evidence from you. The CPS will not rely on an eye witness account which of course would be yours.

You drop the first two options immediately.
If you are serious, then get quotes from 3 or so installers and do the job right. There is a multitude of options available. Only with a site visit will someone be able to advise correctly.
If you are gonna play at it, don't bother, spend your money on something else.

May i ask what sort of budget you had in mind?
