CCTV, Security - Marketing Idea

Hi

I was hoping for some pointers in terms of marketing for a company that offers high-end CCTV systems (supply and installation). The cameras provide high quality footage and are aimed mostly at businesses (most domestic customers aren't willing to spend). Currently, I get customers by word-of-mouth and by visiting small businesses and speaking to the boss.

I want to start marketing the business better and attract domestic customers too (those who can afford the cameras). I'm in the process of having a website built and was thinking of handing out flyers and advertising in the local newspaper. I live in an area where there are a good number of people who can afford the systems but I don't really want to go round cold-calling. In terms of budget at the moment it won't be more than £300-£400 a month so whatever I get for around that amount.

Any other ideas would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Agree with the website, you need something to direct traffic towards. We're having good success with physical flyers at this present moment. Depending on your marketing experience you could put your flyers on social media i.e. Facebook and geo fence it to your targeted location and audience. Social media PPC is far more cost effective than Google Adwords for smaller budgets with larger targeting audiences.

Dont waste money on a website just to have a website, too many people think they can build a website and people will buy in to their brand straight away.

Characteristics of a good website depend on what you marketing strategy is and whether your going to be selling online or not.

I've seen successful people just forward their domain to an eBay store, a Linkedin Profile, several years ago I saw a successful musician whos URL just went straight to his MySpace page.

Start small and with what you need then grow from there.

The main thing on a website is conveying trust so that people will contact you. There is so much to get right when creating a website, working out the content that will help you sell is critical.

Yes it's worth having a website, but in the short term a leaflet drop is going to be more effective.

Once you have a website, geo targetted PPC will be the fastest way to get people seeing it. Also, get it on Google My Business so you appear on Google maps.
