Cash transactions

If I purchase stock (coins) from a member of the public, there is no receipt because I am not dealing with a business but an individual, how does this get recorded, can I make my own receipt of the transaction for my own records? Or is there something else I should be doing?

Write out a receipt with the customer's name and description of what you are buying, and ask them to sign for they money you have paid them.
