I'm not entirely sure of the etiquette here however I'll go for it anyways..As I am not plugging or promoting my services in any way.

I attend Download Festival (rock festival) every year, and I entered a competition to design a sticker for them . I am in the final 5 and it's up for the vote. I am in the lead so far which is good however I could use a few more votes just to get that extra lead?

Most I've seen have done it on the main general forum to get max exposure, even risking the wrath of the mods (although I've never actually seen a mod remove such a post) x

You are exactly right Faerie B, a lot of people have done this and I have not liked this either. I do not mean to single this one out and I remember a similar one a few months ago to do with a VPA I found out after a while it was a virtual Personal Assistant and she wasted people to vote for her.

Many people do this and this is why we cannot trust these award schemes and voted best for whatever because it really comes down to who has the most mates, who are of the most forums etc. It is not really about the best product. I do not believe any of these!

I'd vote for you though - no matter what it was. Don't know why as you seem a little bit "distracted", I like that though x
