Can anyone here recommend a card reader that will accept all major UK credit and debit cards, work in all locations without a mobile phone, and to show online, references for each payment? There would be three employees involved with a card reader each, so it would also be great if it also showed which employee was involved with the payment.

I was looking at Sumup as a possible, but apparently, their machines don't accept PayPal?!?

Well Paypal is a Merchant service, the only way YOU can accept Paypal is if you have that set up as a payment method on your website.

I used to have a page on my website with a Paypal payment button on it (with open amount) so random payments through Paypal - therefore paid using wither cards or the client's Paypal account - could be taken but I'm not aware of a card machine that would do that.

Perhaps you could set up such a page and the employees could access that out & about (if they have some 3/4/5G coverage) for the client to make payment.

Paypal do have a similar device to Sumup (Paypal Here? it might be called) but it just sends the funds into your paypal account rather than a bank account - itself, it only takes cards.

If someone has a Paypal debit card (Paypal issue cards which draw against your Paypal balance) then all card readers will process them as they work just like a normal debit card and piggy back on one of the debit networks (probs Visa but haven't checked)

If a card machine relys on WiFi or 3G/4G then 100% coverage can never be guaranteed. However, there are some GPRS readers that operate on Dual-SIM meaning they are not fixed to one network provider thus allowing them to hook onto the strongest in any one location.

@-Chris- im not sure if your still looking but iZettle have just updated and their app and you can now take PayPal payments through their app.

The customer must have the PayPal app on their phone though to pay as it relies on a QR code.

    Looks good though.

PayPal actually owns iZettle so PayPal could be further integrated in the future.
