Car Leasing

Hi people,

I am thinking of leasing a car as part of my business. I know you can put monthly payments against your taxable profits, as well as claiming back some of the VAT. My question is has anyone done this? How did they find it? Any good companies you can recommend.
Hope to hear from someone soon.

Thanks in advance

1000s to choose from. To safeguard yourself if you do decide to go ahead, the adavance rental should always be to the funding company and not the middlemen.

Couple of years ago a lease company in Glasgow managed to get a few thousand orders complete with advance payments for cars that were apparently on order, when infact they were not so the 3-4 month build window was enough for them to make a fair bit before going missing. Evereyone made the cheques out to them and not a funding company.

DotNetWebs

Just noticed this post

mikejohn and justinfisher are spammers.

Frontier Leasing are spamming (or somebody supposedly acting on their behalf) are currently spamming many forums. They always follow the same pattern. One registers asking a question and then another new member registers a day or to later recommending Frontier Leasing"

See these threads on aardvarktravel where I post as "Horsham" for more info.

http://www.aardvarktravel.net/chat/viewtopic.php?t=32916

http://www.aardvarktravel.net/chat/viewtopic.php?t=32858

This is REALLY annoying. As this thread shows people of unknowingly waste time given the spammers genuine replies when the spammers clearly have no interest in what they have to say.

This thread will probably rank highly in Google for anybody looking for information about Frontier Leasing. The spammers actions can't be doing much for the image of Frontier Leasing.

Wow, that is one crazy website!

What else would you expect from the woman who turned up on Dragons Den with a rocket launcher!:

In case anybody doesn't know Ling is also a member of this forum. Opinion was split about her website when she joined. Conventional wisdom says that it breaks many rules. Some people, myself included, think that it's crazy style fits in with her character and is quite effective.

Remember Ling was offered money by the Dragons but turned them down because the offer was to0 low. She then went on to tell them that she "eats dragons for breakfast!".

Hello,

It is Ling.

DotNetWebs, Yes, I have noticed a lot of those Frontier Leasing posts, in the same manner.

I must say, i would never do that stuff. The way I get to see you are posting about me, is that I monitor my website with WhosOn (brilliant software - parkersoft).

I will investigate the Frontier spamming and give them some grief :) EDIT: to say I have emailed them to stop it and will report their whingy reply when I get it, for your entertainment.

To everyone else, hi. I am a genuine member of these forums.

For anyone interested, after my DD year, I got the turnover up to £280k, from £120k in 2006. There is more to it than DD, but I would say it was worth at least £80k to be on that show.

Well, marketing jewels.... I have my testimonials up to 800+ letters on my website and Google loves to index them. Over half of my visits are due to Google free searches (I don't pay adwords). That's the best I can do this week.

Oh and I have just taken delivery of 500 sets of nice quality car mats with a small discreet badge on them.

If anyone wants the car mats at cost, please send a cheque for £16 (this is £10.50 for the mats and £5.50 for the postage etc) to LINGsCARS.com Ltd, World Headquarters, Vance Business Park, Gateshead, NE11 9NE.

This is just if anyone is interested like logoquality. These are at the cost price. The same mats sell for £25 in Halfords, so I'm not selling for profit, here.

:)

I believe you can transfer leases, but I have never done this. The "new" owner will have to pass finance, but unless you are getting a big discount on the monthly cost (unlikely), wouldn't you rather have a brand new car for the same cost?

I guess the benefit will be that you just have the remaining rentals for a shorter period?

Nice to see Ling is a member, didn't realise when I mentioned her site earlier in the post.

Regarding her site, personally I reckon it is very memorable and very unique in many ways and reflects her personality well, good luck to her.

go with flexxilease. they offer deals from 3 months, so very low commitment. i am getting a landrover discovery for 269 a month + vat on a 12 month 10000 mile deal. no big deposit and they deliver/collect the car. they repair damage in-house and cheaply.

Hi All,

I love spotting the 'self answered' forums. It is also good to go to the sites and read their own testimonials....

It would be easier to do the job properly. Like LingsCars, I also work in this industry and welcome good working practice.

well mine was genuine. i also had a row on the phone with the girl who took my booking today and called her a liar. overall though, they have given me good service. does this sound like flexxilease pr?

You could try Richard at http://www.motorleaseexchange.com/

Nothing in it for me - just trying to help out an old mate.

You know... I tried to have a look at that site in my default browser (Firefox) and it simply won't work. The navigation hyperlinks are all broken. I had to fire up IE. You should tell your pal what he's missing (about 15-20% of visitors). I would be interested to look at that "swap" lease market.

Some companies (mentioning no names) also invent "document fees" which are nothing but made-up charges 90% of the time. Also, a company mentioned on this board (no names) only gives one key with their cars (in case of repos?). This makes family use of a car almost impossible as these days you cannot just get an extra key cyt as they contain transponders etc. These practices are distasteful in my view. At least, if fees ARE charged, they should be clearly declared up front.

The other big problem with this car leasing industry is that most advertisers break the 2004 Price Marking Order, by not including VAT despite the deals being offered to personal customers. This gives misleading headline rates. Imagine petrol stations selling fuel "ex VAT". Two clear price lists should be provided, or, everything should include VAT.

Hi All,

I agree with Ling on this matter. Document fees/Admin charges claimed by brokers thaht are not written into the finance companies agreement are simply hidden profit margin. I also loath these hidden charges, we do not charge them unless they are imposed by the finance company. I some cases, common on personal contract purchase, hire purchase, lease purchase and finance lease the actual finance company that underwrites the deal claims a charge, these can range form £75 up to £399. However, in the case of 'purchase' agreements, these charges are reflected in the APR rate and therefore are not really hidden.

If a broker is charging their own document fee, what else have they missed out to get that low rental?????? Sometimes something that looks to be good true often is.............
