Has anyone had any experience with insurance car hire? For some reason, they are declining all my applications without providing why it's been rejected.

This is all I get. Can someone explain to my how Pay as you go insurance works?

I just want to be able to hire out a car for a day or even 2 days, but I need some guidance. If anyone is willing, I would appreciate it.

As I said in a previous thread your age and lack of experience will go against you. There are loads of other things which they could decline you on:

Personal Driving history
Types of Cars involved in the hire
Are you a Ltd or sole trader
Credit Check
Your location
Your site security
Lack of business accounts

Car hire may seem glamorous but its just a paper exercise, all the paperwork needs to be 100% correct because people don't treat hire cars like they treat their own cars.

Car hire doesn't even ' seem ' glamorous. It's hard work, extremely competative, there are figures to reach and then you have the customers....
For a bit of background....In the olden days with the ' pay as you go' type insurance, you basically filled in the cars rental history and sent it off, you then paid as per the cars utilisation. This of course was open to an ever so slight bit of constructive paperwork. Nowadays I assume it's all done via GPS trackers, so that window of opportunity is now firmly closed.

How old are you, what experience do you have in the rental market, what business experience do you have, how is your credit rating, the fact that you want to hire out a car for a day or two means you aren't serious, etc etc as above......

I applied using my dads details (Permission was granted), and even before they got to anything like the type of cars involved, location, site security, they declined the appl.

It's just for a little income on side, but then expanding if everything goes right. Yes, the market is competettive but it's not saturated. We're also not looking to compete with proper rental companies, it's just for lets say prom, events and so on.

Can I ask. How do you know they declined the application before getting to "anything like the type of cars involved, location, site security,"? Did they tell you that they didn't read any of that information? Or do you mean that you didn't supply it?

They replied with this:

Sorry but I can't see anything in that message that would indicate that they made their decision without considering the cars involved, location, site security etc. In fact the opposite. "Your application has been viewed by....". Looks to me as if they looked at it and decided not to proceed but simply don't want to provide specific reasons as to why.

It is getting more and more difficult in the last five years to get this type of insurance and quite a few small establish companies have given up over the insurance issue
