Good evening all,

Currently have my RR Sport 2012 and my tilt bed trailer which i use for personal circumstances.

I am looking to get into a UK Wide delivery service using this equipment and this alone in my spare time for local dealers and other car companies around me.

It wont be used for recovery services but mainly delivering new cars to new customers and some local detailing companies.

As it will be towing cars and 4x4's, would i i require any special licence besides normal full licence ? Have reviewed the gov site but its more about vehicles over 3500kg carrying goods which my car is 2524kg, trailer 725kg carrying cars upto 2500kg.

Understand about book keeping etc as my wife runs her own business.

Any advice would be greatfully appreciated.

You would need a B + E licence and possibly a tacho. Best speak to an expert.

I have sent an email to gov site asking for clarification because the full dvla licence i have already but have read some conflicting details on the need for a tacho in the car depending on the service i would be offering and how the gov site states the tow vehicle carrying over 3500kg on its own not by a trailer would also require one which mine is not

DVLA will not give you a definitive answer, in my experience. You would be better asking a professional, say an HGV instructor/trainer or similar. I was told to ask myself, If there is any doubt as to whether a tacho is needed, would I feel comfortable in defending against DVLA in court should it come to it. I had a tacho fitted the next week.

You will need a standard Operator's licence if your activities are for hire and reward as you will exceed the 3.5 tonnes train weight limit

You biggest problem is using an RR for commercial work . They are quite simply not up to the job It will fall to bits in the first couple of months
The first thing to go will be the head gaskets as they always go .Then the ECU will stop the engine everyday and it will be a catalogue of disasters

Very funny for us watching on the sidelines but we really want to give worth while advice

If I was getting involved with this I would be looking to run at least a 7.5 tonne beaver tail
