Car Auction Startup

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has any information or guides on starting up a car auction?

I am currently in the motor trade and thinking of starting a car auction. I am lucky enough to have the facilities that are needed e.g. big yard, car hall and reception. I believe I would be able to get the cars and people to attend via advertising and word of mouth etc.

The only thing that I am not sure about is if there is any regulations or certificates you need to have in order to run an auction?

First couple of things I would do is look at other car auctions around the UK, get a feel for what regulations, governing body's (if any) that they work with. Maybe even ring up a few in non competing areas eg Manchester if you are in London. I'd also ring business insurers such as hiscox for a chat about what is needed. Best of luck
