Car advertising, whats easy to remember?

Im having some advertising put on my car, but whats sort of things do people remember, I guess business name, website?

Or do they just come knock on your window

Any ideas appreciated

On my rear windscreen I have the website (hslanguageservices.com) and 'French and German tuition'.
I have had people knocking on my window at traffice lights for a business card, waiting for me to return in car parks to find out more details, and comments like ' a mobile languages tutor - that's novel!' Anonymity lost forever!
I think people are more likely to recognise your name in directories/ on other advertsing, if they have seen your car about. I have only had one direct referral from my car advertising.

Thanks, I wasnt too keen but other photographers have said the advertising has paid for itself very quickly, they also got the supermarket window knock lol

I think I will go for web address, phone and what I do plus having an external under number plate one that just says 'wedding photography'

I think car branding is well worth it. Don't expect any immediate return on your investment. But over time they are brilliant for building your brand awareness locally. Bearing in mind that clear channel (or live nation now i believe) sell those large billboards for around £1,000 per week! Having your car branded is as strong a form of outdoor advertising as one of those travelling around your city (nearly....it is a bit smaller mind).

But fear not, although you may think there are better ways to invest your money and actually win new customers, the 'silent' long term benefits to building your brand will be very strong! It's just like the 'order of trades' - you have just got the 'order of ads' slightly wrong, but it is money well spent when you look at the bigger picture.

Along with building your brand, this advertising activity will raise your business profile, which is often key to securing purchasing decisions from 'in market' customers that are looking for a 'local' portrait photographer.

I would say a punchy strap line could be an idea on the car as well. I created one for a client when i worked in Radio previously, i still remember it.............Memories are priceless, treasure them forever.........with lalala Wedding and Portriat Photography. Yeh it was a Radio script and tag, but you have a shorter version.

Think like the big brands and aim for the stars...............you know the rest!

cheers

I've spoken to a few Photographer friends they all are quite wary of it, saying no its tacky ,blah blah but its only as tacky as you make it I think.

Only thing Im finding is the people that do the printing don't half take a long time to reply with quotes, its quite frustrating

I would have your company name and website backwards across the front of the bonnet so cars in front can read it in the rear view like on ambulances.

Also people who see it normally (not in a mirror) will have to concentrate on it for longer to work out what it says - that way it should stick in their minds.

A bright colour vehicle would help too - think Dyno-Rod etc, you don't need to read the writing to know which company it belongs to.

GG.

My old car had a simple web-address and bullet points in the back window. It wasn't particularly eye catching but have had a few customers from it.

For my new car, I'm going to go all out and get it done in the swishiest, brightest colours I can all over! You've got to get peoples attention.
