Hello,

does anybody know any simple customer database software? I need it only for myself, so no mutiple user, on-line, cloud or server solutions are neccessary.

Besides the usual as keeping different information about the contact, history, opportunities, notes, etc., I will need to be able to serch the contacts by different attributes (so not only by the basics such as name, e-mail, telephone, company, ...).

I´d really welcome a possibility of defining my own searchable attributes that could be added to the contact and I will ideally need the software to be able to create a mailing list based on the search results.

Any ideas out there?

Thank you. I really appreciate your help!

Best,

Jana

Agree with Curiosity in Salesforce. Or if you are looking for something cheaper, you could take a look at oncontact. Though I suspect salesforce has a lot more options given its subscription price.

I've set up a few SugarCRM systems over the past year. Whilst I don't use it myself (wrote my own) I do know my way around it and it seems to be getting more popular.

It may be a bit complicated for your needs and you will have a steep learning curve if you try and pick it up for yourself but the good news is that you can download and install the free "community" edition and have a go to see if it fits your needs.

We are also looking for a CRM/Job Logging.

At the moment we have Clik, GMail, excel spreadsheets, Sage.

Nothing links together.

We allocate an LIV (unique job number) number to each job this is generated from Clik, we enter all the customer/job details. We have a spreadsheet to record every job, so they are easy to view. Then we put them in the google calendar, print the screen and email to the engineers.

We enter the same information in 3 different systems!

Help!!!!

spinlessplates

Hi Elaine

You may struggle to get something that links into everything for you
So for example in Spinlessplates you could
Manage your contacts, enquiries, quotes, sales, invoices (which you can then post to Xero in 1 click of a button but not SAGE sorry), purchase orders, daily to-do lists, product management and email directly from the system.
There is also a multi user option so your engineers could log in directly.
Currently it doesn't link into Google Calendar but we are linking up to their api at the moment so enquiry manager dates are posted to Google calendar but it is at initial test stage at present
If you would like to talk more about what you need let me know

If you requirements are simple why not just use a spread sheet ? Ctrl+F for search.

MS compatible free spreadsheet software http://www.openoffice.org/ or http://www.libreoffice.org/

If you really need a database, both of these provide them too.

Hi Jana

You have had allot of great advice in here. From sage to salesforce and of course the trusty spreadsheet. There is also SugarCRM and vTiger, and lets not forget Zoho.

Again all are great, however I think it may be better to list all the tasks you do in your business, and get the system that fits the bill. By doing it this way, instead of someone selling you an off the cloud system, you will get something that fits perfectly, and it may even save you allot in the long term.

When I say list all the tasks I mean be really pedantic, as all of the tiny little tasks soon mount up to a big headache. Then of course the only one who has won is the software service provider.

Hope this helps, if you would like any further assistance you can PM me.

Hi

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but there's lots of good advice here that I've been considering. I wondered if anyone who's used the CRM's mentioned here would recommend any particular one for me. I need it to list customers and then their purchases and date/use of the purchases (sunbed courses). I don't need invoices etc. Almost need a sort of membership database I guess. I have very little experience of off the shelf databases - I have always been spoilt with bespoke ones :) I know there are specific sun bed software packages but they seem very expensive and unnecessary for me.

Many thanks!
