Currently we do gardening, ie maintenance, planting & supply of materials.

If we start growing & selling plants, under a different marketing name, do we need to set up another business and tell HMRC or can it operate as a part of the whole gardening business.

And would this also apply if we started doing garden design?

The simple answer is, yes, you can do it all in one.

The longer answer, is, yes, but whether this is the best option for tax purposes would be a question for your accountants, as only they would know your personal circumstances.
