Also i have not advertised only informed i have not stated prices only answerd questions.

Gavin, you started two threads plugging your product. The second one seems to have already been deleted. If you had something else to say about it, then why not post on the original thread instead of starting a new one the next day?

In most people's books, that is spamming.

What warning? I cant see what you are referring to?

If you look at Gavins profile you will see that he has a yellow card infraction which is a warning for what I believe to be purely advertising and he has been told that if he continues to post in the same vein he will be banned.

Gavin disagrees with my assessment hence the posting on here to solicit the UKBF memberships views.

Sorry Gavin

In most cases, and on most forums, I tend to swing with the moderators as they often consider carefully before penalising people and you opened yourself up for abuse (I read through your previous posts btw). If you are wise you will drop the attitude, agree with the decision, and use the forums in the manner suggested. I think you will also find that if you are unsure you can always PM a moderator for advice -Before- posting, that way you save yourself any future penalisation.

Ah, if it was a mod warning for a second thread about the same topic, then thats fair on their part, as you don't need to have duplicate threads, a second thread is advertising...

PS - Alan, I cant see any yellow card infraction in the profile, is that not just visible to the person warned and mods/admins?

Im seeing quite a few posts where the introduction is a sales pitch in mild and extreme forms. When is a posting not actually advertising their wares exactly?

To my mind, the mere mention of their business name and url is an advertisement, whether or not they are purposely or naively posting it that way. I dont actually mind this at all, so this isnt a complaint, im just confused why some seem to get picked on and others not.

I have also seen the same 'business' in Introductions under 2 similar names (though could be 2 people) however as both posts are advertising what they do then thats a bit of duplication though more subtle than this partcilar OP must have been!

An introduction is effectively telling the current forum about their business which technically is a mild form of advertising but perfectly acceptable.
There is a difference between for example 'I'm x and I provide bluetooth advertising' and a 20 line post giving us the details of everything they do and explicitly asking everyone to subscribe to the service/buy the product.

Its really a case of subtlety.

Also in future posts we already know what the person does therefore there should be no need to provide any further posts in the same vein.
If a member asks about the availability of the service it is reasonable to give a response that says I can help you with this PM me if interested but we do not allow posts which 'force feed' services to our members.

The forums ethos is one of helping each other not as an advertising forum for products/services:)

i did not try to hide the fact i was posting on 2 different threads as i thought it was ok as one was for general then i saw the one for marketing so thought that it would help people on there.

i do apologize as i didn't read all the rules but still feel i was treated unfairly.

but i am happy to go bye the rules from now on .:D:D:D:D:D

Hi Gavin,

I suggest that you take Calibre Design's advice seriously

"First step : use spell checker, use good English, use a copywriter"

Use the spell checker

"but i am happy to go bye the rules from now on"

You go by the rules, don't say bye to the rules or you'll find another problem.

We will wait for your inputs about how you can help us with your services.
