Can I get paid?

I'm not sure if this is in the right forum, but here goes.

A couple of weeks ago, I started working part time at a local business, only today while in the middle of my shift, someone told me the company had gone into administration a couple of days ago.

Last month, I never filled in a time sheet because nobody mentioned its existence, thus I haven't been paid. Apparantly, everyone in this company is paid by cheque.

I've done one shift this month, and am quite wary about working for the next month without knowing if I will get paid or not.

Do you think I'm justified in asking the manager for my cheque for last month, otherwise I refuse to work this month? Or, if he says he can't give me a cheque for last month until next payday, should I just go along with it, and hope for the best?

I'm not the most assertive person, but could really do with some advice before going into work tomorrow.

The manager, in the interview, told me this was a thriving business, so obviously, he's not shy of lying, thus I have very little trust in him.

I don't even know if I'm on the pay system seems I've never been paid yet, so am pretty worried that I'm not going to receive my money.

If the company has gone into administration then the administrators will be incharge of the company, but will if possible make sure all pay due is paid, as they have not immediatly shut down the company that is a good sign they think they can help the compan

I would suggest go back to work, fill in a timesheet for last month and hand it in to the manager asap.

I've sorted out the time sheet today. The administrators come in tomorrow, so we'll see what's happening then. If the company stays open, then I'm just going to book as much time off as I can so I'm not risking too much time, and see how it pans out.

If it does get closed down, I'm guessing I'll just have to count my losses, and try not to feel too bitter about it.

If the administrators are in, then you will be paid for the work you do - if you book as much time off as you canm then you won't get paid for that time obviously!

The administrators will have a fair idea as to whether people should stay and work - i.e. that there is paid work to do - if they come in and send everyone home then the business will be closed, if they come in an nothing is said, and work continues as normal, then you will be paid as normal - just remember to fill in that time sheet!

sorry to hear about your bad news, hope you get paid every penny.The only people who really loose out are the companies whom are owed money, no doubt it will be another pre-pack company with a slight name change! good old labour....
