can I be sued

I am a dressmaker and I made an outfit where the pattern was wrong for someone. I put many hours of work into it. Today the customer collected the outft and refused to pay or try it on. I myself knew she wasn't happy so to save problems I said there would be no cost- stupid I know. I am now scared that she will sue me for the cost of the pattern and the bit of fabric she bought. I may be being paranoid but could anyone please help me? The cost of the fabric and pattern is less than £40.

You did the right thing anyway, didnt charge her. Learning curve for you I'm afraid so dont you be.

Very unlikely to sue - but there could be an important lesson to be learned.

It sounds to me like you knew the pattern would be wrong for the customer but didn;t say anything. You are the professional so if you have doubts you have a responsibility to your clients to bring this to their attention. If they still insist they want it then they will have no justification in complaining when they realise you were right.

I'm not sure I understand this at all...did the customer bring you the pattern?

The customer refused to try it on? How could they know it was wrong if they didn't try it?

Sound's more like you got scammed to me...
