Can anyone recommend ASP.NET Hosting

Hi

I need a hosting for a new web site, but it must have ASP.NET 4.5 preferable IIS 7, must be able to run MVC 4 web sites, and also have a MS SQL Database.

The site is new and won't have a lot of usage to start with, so costs need to be kept low. But will need to migrate the service quickly and easily if needed.

I am looking at less than £35 (plus VAT), at least for the first 6 months., and I am looking to start asap.

Please don't recommend yourself, but happy to receive PM's

Any recommendation greatly received.

I have to say my prefered choice is Vidahost, but they don't have ASP.NET 4.5 on their cheaper solutions (like the one in your link), which means i can't run the entity framework 5 (and I can't live without it).

So I would have to upgrade to a virtual server which means £35 + vat a month.

They do offer MS SQL though.

Have you spoken to them, as they used to run old versions of PHP on servers for those who needed it, so might have a server set up with .net 4.5?

Apart from the above, the only real other option I am aware of is Heart and the generic hosts who do really cheap hosting options.

The other thing you could consider in this situation is Amazon EC2. Their free web tier would be you can be up and running for next to nothing.

tbh I wouldn't use shared hosting with your technical requirements anyway I would go for a vps or cloud solution.

I am sure Amazon are very good, but i don't believe in putting your eggs in one basket so i wouldn't use Amazon for hosting.

I don't need anything specifically fancy just an upto date version of ASP.NET, although it is fairly clear not many hosts have asp.net 4.5 on their cloud hosting packages.

http://www.netcetera.co.uk/ they look very cheap

In my experience (of custom asp.net coding) sooner or later you will hit problems with shared hosting as you will need something configuring or installing that is not permitted or available by that host on a shared server.

That's the reason I personally would always use a vps/cloud solution.

Yes you got me thinking, so I am now sat comparing VPS packages, as the prices fluctuate massively, and you can see why when you look hard enough.

will make me work harder as I can't really afford the VPS, but it might be an necessity
