Can anyone recommend a good Magento designer?

Hi all,

I have a website which is nearly finished however there are a few final things I'm not too confident in doing myself such as moving the hosting, adding the payment gateway and a few design finishing touches.

Could anyone recommend a UK based designer?

Sounds like you need a developer rather than a designer. Some developers are code only and will not like to have design certain aspects (better left to a graphic designer).

Go onto places like Elance.com, and choose a Magento expert with a lot of good feedback, get it at a great price and I've always found them to very good.

For Magento work, what seems cheap and great, will often end in wasted time and frustration if you are lucky and a loss of your development budget as well if you are not.

Using Off shore non-native speaking people is not an easy thing to do to get right. Regardless of your background, size of your company or the size of the offshore one.

Everyone says they can do everything, and magento is a victim of its own popularity in this regard, which is why they introducted the certification program.

Now there is a FRONT END certificate being launched so it will be much easier for merchants to make informed choice and get the right guys working on your store first time.

85% of our business last year came from people who had started without another Magento developer / design agency but the project had failed. Luckily these guys had deep enough pockets and could go again and learned from the experience that they should seek out the quality standard when selecting magento consultants.

As per the post from Daniel Higgins regarding Magento I would not suggest an off-shore solution as we have had to amend or advise customers to completely start from scratch with work that has been produced from abroad sources. if you were ever to take this option due to cost you must have a very good and confident Project Manager in place.

As above it sounds like you just need a little tech support. Does your host not offer this service?
