i need a good hosting company which is fairly cheap. I was with Just host before but that are not too good

dunno why people are recommending hosting without first knowing what you are using it for?

Crazy crazy people :)

Hosting is a simple case of you get what you pay for, as your site grows you should always note that your hosting cost would also increase at some point.

Traffic = resources = cost :)

there is also no such thing as unlimited!

So question is, what are you using it for? and what will you be using it for in the coming year, two years etc...

Agree with comments.

Web hosts come in all shapes and sizes.

To make a genuine recommendations we really need to know what you're looking to host. One persons idea of a good web host, could be another's nightmare host.

Everyone has a different view on things like what make good customer service and lot's of people have different experience in web hosting. Some hosts are more suited to new comers, whilst others are tailored to web designers and devs who know exactly what they want to do.

For example ask yourself if you need Windows or Linux hosting? Shared, Virtual-dedicated, or dedicated? UK or US based web hosting? Do you need latest PHP, MySQL, ASP.NET? Are you looking to hosts a specific app like WordPress, Drupal, Joomla or Magento?

Like everything in this world you get what you pay for.

Most web hosts, including ourselves, offer 30-day money-back guarantee so you can try out the web host without any ties and see if they're suited to you.

It's also worth looking at what affiliation the poster has to the web host. Some people only recommend a web host because they pay them the highest referral fee.

Of course, without being hypocritical, I should make it clear I'm posting on behalf of our own web hosting company, Ecenica Hosting.

All the best.

Hostgator are excellent.

Unlimited domains, unlimited bandwidth and amazing 24/7 support.

They're based in Houston Texas, but if you're worried about google using your hosting location as a factor in your SEO efforts you can login to Google webmaster tools and select "UK" from the settings there which should override it.

I am setting up a new site using magento. Realistically seaking i want it to have unlimited disk space and bandwith.

    I know thats quite difficult..
    Not to mention impossible ;)

There is a lot of misunderstanding and hidden clauses when it comes to "unlimited" bandwidth and space. The main gotcha is that the companies advertising unlimited resources will bury a clause in their terms stating "it's unlimited until the server starts choking after which we'll cut your site off" sort of thing. In which case it's not unlimited at all :)

If you know anywhere that will let me have unlimited bandwidth / space, and is a good enough server to handle that kind of traffic on the cheap, let me know! :)

    i'll create a new youtube on a few quid a month! :)

(youtube costs millions by the way)

There is no such thing as unlimited bandwidth / space, much the same as those broadband adverts that say unlimited - they arn't! :)

I would recommend nublue.co.uk as they are very good, I run two e-commerce sites with them and they are extremely helpful.

I ran magento before and unless you have really good programmers or want to spend serious money I would not recommend it.

Can I ask what you want to sell with a requirement of unlimited space?

I run an online shopping mall with thousands of products and don't need unlimited space yet.

Hostgator is certainly a great web hosting company and one that we keep a very close eye on. The big thing to consider when going with Host Gator is whether you want to host your site in the UK or USA. HG host all their servers in Texas, USA, at The Planet Datacenter network.

Personally know it well as we used to host a bunch of dedicated servers with The Planet but choose to move them across to this side of the pond, to our London Datacentres to improve load times for our customers.
