Hi all,

Can anyone offer any advice, information, links etc. regarding carrying out market research, what sort of stuff I should be looking for.

I'm not 100% where to get started in terms of getting in touch with the people I want my business to be for.

Can you give a little bit more info? What industry is your business in? What are you trying to find out?

Ask the people who will make a difference to the sales of your product. Never ask friends or family.

The two which are usually the most important are shopkeepers and the shops' customers.

The problem with asking shopkeepers is that their feedback will mostly be about price and their margin. They are not very good at thinking about the actual product.

Sorry, was in a slight rush when sending that post but realised it was rubbish when I clicked send.

Window blind industry - currently working in a shop/retail environment and looking to expand online.

I have used Survey Monkey to create a survey to get a bit of demographic, people's online shopping habits, have they bought blinds online previously and would they use an app to help guide them as I have been developing an app as one of our USPs.

Go to your local library and ask about Keynotes Market Research. Most large central (not out of town) libraries offer access to this for a nominal fee.
