Can anyone help me to build Linnworks custom scripts? (Paid work)

I'm really struggling to find anyone in the world other than Linnworks that can help me to build some custom scripts besides Linnworks themselves. They charge pretty ridiculous hourly rates, and appear to over-quote the number of hours required build the scripts too. I was recently quoted £550 for what was basically just a sales report.

I've tried some of the freelance websites with no luck.

I have a few that need building now or ASAP, and then another couple that I'm currently writing up the specification for but will not need for about 2 months. There's bound to be additional work in the future, so it's a long term proposition.

Can anyone, anywhere help please?

There is no such thing as "just a sales report" I would consider £550 a bargain for a report.

Well this is. Put it this way, I can easily produce the figures that I need using Linnworks annalytics in about 5 minutes. The problem is that not all of my members of staff can use annalytics, which means that I need this report to be built.

£550 for something I can access in 5 minutes bargain?

What concerns me more is the future scripts that I need built which are a lot more complex than a sales report. If that one cost £550, I could be looking at about £10k for the others.

There's only one guy from the UK, but he says he's too busy.
Of course £550 looks expensive for some numbers "you can get in 5 minutes" unless you understand how complex these things are, how much time they take a skilled developer, and how much a skilled developer in the UK costs, plus overheads, the cost of taking him/her off other projects etc. etc.

£550 could be as little as 5 hours work for a skilled developer, it may be easy to get the data out in the analytics but could be an absolute pain for a custom report.

Ask the developer how long it would take and you can then estimate what his hourly wage is, I wouldn't expect anyone to be working for less than £50 an hour for such a specialised piece of software

I know exactly how many hours they've quoted, it was 8 hours at £70 per hour. Why I made this thread was in attempt to find a freelancer that will work for less than £70 per hour on a long term basis, and doesn't take 8 hours to produce a simple script.

£70 hour is a reasonable rate for a viable UK business. After all car servicing at a garage is £80/hour+ at a main dealer.

I agree it is for a business, and I don't actually think that Linnworks are over-charging as a company. The prices just work out very high for any long-term work.

This is why I'm looking for a freelancer.

Have you tried People Per Hour, there is a bigger proportion of UK freelancers on there. Elance is good if you are happy to work with offshore/indian freelancers/companies. A quick search on PPH I could find a few UK linnworks freelancers.

    Dear TPH1,

Sorry to hear you disagree with our rates for Custom Scripting.

We feel that our rates are very competitive compared to Freelancers as our work is produced by our in house specialists along side the Linnworks development team.

If you fail to find a Freelancer and commissioning a script with us is out of your budget, maybe consider booking a training session for your staff on topic of our Analytics tool.

Training sessions are priced at £75 P/H (Plus Vat), this will involve our technical team remotely accessing your computer and speaking to you over the telephone to educate them on its operation.

Lastly we also have a Video Tutorial on how to use the Analytics tool to help customers understand its operation.

I hope this information is of use to you.

    Kind Regards
