In order to ensure that you get the best possible photos to promote your shoes in the right light (either to businesses as re-sellers or direct to consumers) you should consider a specialist marketing photography agency. I would recommend The White Room where we understand the purpose of the photography and you do not have to opt in for our full marketing and PR services.

Bringing a new product into the market (shoes) and would like to get some decent pictures taken. Having absolute ZERO photography skills, and because its an upmarket item, how much should I be looking at (approx) to get some decent images taken of it for the website (ideally in 2-3 locations).

Any advice/pricing mark ups will be appreciated before I start looking around... and to get an idea.

Cheers

this will cost you...nothing.

get yourself registered on modelmayhem.com and put an advert in the casting calls for a photographer. there are loads of photographers who would work on their portfolio for free. as long as you'll let them use the pictures for their portfolio. If you really wanna do something amazing, you might as well pay a model (about £150-£200/day) and a stylist and make up artist. So if you really wanna do it properly, it will cost you about £600-£700.

I have seen someone saying £3000-£4000 but that is just not true because even the fashion magazines wouldn't spend that much on a shoot. my girlfriend is a model and everyone keeps the prices very low.

good luck!

Photographers work for magazines at low fees to get more creative work and build their reputations. It is not unusual for a photographer to work for £100 for a glossy magazine and charge above £2,000 for advertising shoes.

Go professional.

I purchased a £250 DSLR camera and some extra lenses a year or so ago for the web business side of things. The images are great but to be honest, i'm a total amature with it and i'm only using half of the settings it has.

If i knew what i was doing, i could make the images 100 times better but thats what years of training and university gives you and thats why the fees are so high.

Everyone can take a photograph but only the few can take a photograph that says a thousand words.
